FAQ

How do I submit my work?
There are two ways in which you can submit your work:
1. Simply fill in this form;
2. Submit your work by publishing it on your Instagram profile as a mainfeed post (not a story), using the hashtag #ArtistsForClimate, tagging @tedcountdown and @fineacts and telling us — and the world — your vision for a better climate future in the caption. Please scroll down to Permitted types of work for technical specifications.

Originality

This call is for original submissions. In addition to new work, you may submit existing works that are not subject to exclusive rights and can be licensed based on our criteria. By submitting the work, you acknowledge that it is your submission and that the work does not violate any intellectual property rights of any third party or organization. You also agree that upon submission of the work, you agree to defend and hold harmless TED and Fine Acts from any liability resulting from the publication or distribution of your work.

What do I get?
If you are selected, you will receive a $500 USD licensing fee for providing us the rights to show, promote and use your selected work. All selected submissions will be posted on the campaign’s website (artistsforclimate.org) and credited to you.

The top 50 illustrations, selected by our jury, will:

  • Receive a $500 USD licensing fee

  • Be featured on a global stage at the 2021 TED Countdown Summit in Edinburgh, and various TED conferences

  • Gain exposure on TED and TED Countdown digital platforms, including social media channels, newsletters and blog pages

  • Contribute to the broader goal of spreading awareness about climate action through your work by becoming part of this visual library, and by allowing TED, TED Countdown and FineActs to use your artwork to shape the climate conversation.

Be included on The Greats, a free vault with carefully curated socially engaged visual content intended to elevate art to help bring about social change

Do I keep the ownership of the works I submit?
Yes. If your work gets selected, you maintain ownership of the artwork and have agreed to grant TED and Fine Acts a worldwide perpetual, non-revocable license to publish the submission under a creative commons license CC-NC-SA-4.0, crediting you as the artist. That means that TED, TED Countdown, Fine Acts and others will be able to use and adapt the art for non-commercial purposes. Please read the terms of this license before submitting your work.

Where will my works be published?
All selected works will be published on the campaign’s website (artistsforclimate.org) and made available to download. All selected works will also be published on The Greats, an open global platform dedicated to social impact art, run by Fine Acts.

Who will select the art for publication?
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel (including TED Countdown, Fine Acts, climate change experts, and prominent artists). Selection criteria include concept, originality, professional quality, aesthetics (design and composition), and message.
